Emergency Care
Emergency Care
At Southern Crescent Equine Services, we provide 24/7care for horses experiencing medical conditions requiring urgent attention. We understand that emergencies can be confusing and scary, and they happen when it can be challenging for you to find a veterinarian. We highly encourage you to use your regular veterinarian (who maintains your horse’s vaccine and welfare status) when you experience an emergency, and we hope that veterinarian is us!
Our team includes technical staff and experienced veterinarians that are ready to help your horse when you need us most. Our team at Southern Crescent Equine Services is led by board-certified veterinarians who specialize in handling sudden injuries and illnesses in horses and donkeys.
How We Can Help:
We understand that no matter how safe and healthy your horse is, something can always happen unexpectedly. If your horse experiences sudden acute lameness, high fevers, foaling difficulties, colic, choke, or laceration, contact our office for urgent care.
We can also provide SAA testing, Lactate measuring, CBC/Blood Chemistry, culture/sensitivity, and fecal egg counting through our in-house laboratory.
Providing emergency care to our patients is very important to us. We service a large client base and territory. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to provide timely emergency care in an ambulatory setting. We strongly recommend that our clients have a plan in place to be able to haul the horse into our facility so we can serve you more efficiently.
If you do not own a horse trailer, we encourage you to borrow or rent one from a friend should the need arise for transport. It is wise to have this conversation and a plan in place before an emergency occurs. We will always try to accommodate ambulatory requests for emergency farm calls in our service area, but having a haul-in option as part of an emergency plan is highly advised. Thank you for working with us to better serve your needs.
Conditions that Require Emergency Care:
Hopefully, your animal will never need emergency care, but our team is here for those dire situations. If your horse is acting abnormally, it may be time to contact our veterinarians for emergency services. Contact us if your animal is experiencing any of these conditions.
